Scope and Contents On the back cover and internet, it is stated that Spencer Selby, Born and raised in the midwest, began writing film criticism and poetry after college. In 1984 he published Dark City: The Film Noir, an early study of the genre that has remained in print for over 25 years. In San Francisco in the mid-80s he put out SINK, which was one of the first experimental poetry magazines to be desktop published. This was followed by a stint as coordinator of the Canessa Park Reading Series in North Beach from 1987-93. After that came the creation of Selby's List of Experimental Poetry/Art Magazines, which has endured online as an important source of info for innovative writers and artists around the world. Spencer Selby has performed his work in many North American cities and in Europe. He is the author of eight poetry books and four previous compilations of visual work.
