This poem deals with the role of Napoleon III in the Salon exhibition in Paris in 1863 and lists several painters of that time, viz., Manet, Fantin-Latour. Whistler, Guillaumin, along with Salon des Refusee and the dates 1863 and 1963, the 100th year anniversary of this event. Wilkipedia: Pissarro agreed with a group of these young, artists about the importance of portraying individuals in natural settings, and expressed his dislike of any artifice or grandeur in his works, despite what the Salon demanded for its exhibits. In 1863, almost all of the group's paintings were rejected by the Salon, and French Emperor Napoleon III instead decided to place their paintings in a separate exhibit hall, the Salon des Refusés. Wikipedia: Aldous Leonard Huxley (26 July 1894 "“ 22 November 1963) was an English writer and one of the most prominent members of the famous Huxley family. Best known for his novels including Brave New World and a wide-ranging output of essays, Huxley also edited the magazine Oxford Poetry, and published short stories, poetry, travel writing, film stories and scripts. Huxley spent the later part of his life in the United States, living in Los Angeles from 1937 until his death. Aldous Huxley was a humanist, pacifist, and satirist, and he was latterly interested in spiritual subjects such as parapsychology and philosophical mysticism. He is also well known for advocating and taking psychedelics. Scope and Contents It appears that Bob Cobbing was the author/editor of this book that mostly consisted of works of Houedard, several of which are held by the Sackner Archive. Cobbing writes in this book of Houedard's poetry (1949-1972) that he deserves publication of a large body of work because he was important in his innovative religious thinking, philosophy, poetry and criticism. He mentions that much of the material is held by the Sackner Archive and anyone 'doing the big book' would need to see and be inspired by that collection.
