Music in Art through the Ages was originally published as fifty essays in BBC Music Magazine. Tom Phillips contributes an introduction in which he describes musical themes, instruments, portraits of musicians, music lessons, musical scores, and abstract compositions. Analyzing specific works of art and relating them to musical history, Phillips presents a lively and informative insight into the two important aspects of his own creative life.
