10 Poemas / cummings, e.e. ; Augusto de Campos, translator., 1964

 Item
Identifier: CC-19407-19790
Scope and Contents

The critical text on the loose sheet by Augusto De Campos compares cummings' poetry to Mallarme's Un Coup de Des. De Campos notes that in contrast to lettrisme, in cummings' poetry the words are not dissociated from the meaning nor are letters valid by themselves. De Campos believes that the word expressionism (typographical gesturing) and disfigurement of the discursive in cummings' poetry find their best visual arts equivalent in the works of Paul Klee. This is the second edition, the first edition was published in 1960. Stored in Augusto de Campos box. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

 Item
Identifier: CC-46428-49157
Scope and Contents This is a "how to" book for aspiring poets as the author explains various elements of poetry and supplies entertaining exercises to describe the concepts of meter, rhyme, form, diction and poetics to the reader. Review from Publishers Weekly described the following. In this delightfully erudite, charming and soundly pedagogical guide to poetic form, British actor (narrator of the Harry Potter movies, among other roles), novelist and secret poet Fry leads the reader through a series of lessons on meter, rhythm, rhyme and stanza length and reveals the structural logic of every imaginable poetic form, including the haiku, the ballad, the ode and the sonnet. Writing poetry, like any hobby, should be fun, Fry claims, and while talent is inborn, technique can be learned. Inviting readers to study the wealth of choices of form available in the world's major poetic traditions, Fry himself pens intentionally vapid yet entertaining poems that demonstrate each form's rules and patterning, and...
