The theme of this book is the vernacular language of America discovered and documented by Fella from the landscape of cities, towns and countryside. In addition to the photographs by Fella, several pages are reproduced from calligraphic text from his notebooks. Envelope addressed to Marvin Sackner included a letter as a response to a request by Sackner to examine samples of Fella's sketch books &/or drawings in order to decide upon purchase of such works by the Archive. These works by Fella, who is an acclaimed graphic designer, were published in a leading article of Eye magazine.
