This letterpress edition of Journal of Evidence Weekly Volume 138 was published on the occasion of Martin Wilner's exhibition, "More Drawings about History and Evidence," at the Pierogi Gallery in Brooklyn, New York from January 4 through February 4, 2008. The Archive also holds a unique book of subway drawings with a different cast of characters seated on the train, Journal of Evidence Weekly Volume 122. He draws portraits of his fellow passengers adn records their conversations in cartoon bubbles as he evesdrops on them. Running across the top of the drawings and meandering through someof the drawings are the names of the subway stops where the action took place. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

Making History April May June 2006 , 2006
These are calendar drawings with each day of the month a drawing directly or indirectly gleaned from articles in the NY Times Newspaper. The information leading to the drawing is written in graphite on the verso of the drawing. The April drawing consists of heads, the May drawing text from newspaper article headers, and map drawings from articles. The names of the places from the maps overlap from one day to another to produce a combination name that does not signify a true location, e.g., a foreign country city name meshed with a city name in the United States. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

STORY/lines: Narrative in Drawing / Schmerler, Sarah; Wilner M., 2007
Sarah Schmerler writes about this exhibition, "Martin Wilner's series "Making History" (monthly calendar drawings started in 2002) combines disparate, often disturbing images lifted from current events - George Bush's distorted face, men in surgical masks - with snippets of ephemera like sheet music, making visual sense of a world gone chaotically awry...it's the raw and honest approach to drawing shared by Gabel and Wilner that mades the ferry trip worthwhile." The Sackner Archive holds three of the monthly calendar drawings. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
