Scope and Contents
The Jane Weiss papers date from 1967 to 1981 and measure 10 linear inches. The papers are arranged in three series: Biographical, Research and teaching, and Miscellaneous. All the folder titles in the Research and teaching series are Weiss's original titles.
The Biographical series (1981) consists of a newspaper clipping about he Jane A. Weiss memorial plaque which commemorates the University of Iowa forbeing the first institution of its kind to admit men and women on an equal basis, a posthumous letter written by Nancy Hauserman to Weiss about the memorial in her honor, the eulogy which was read at Weiss's memorial service, and several photographs taken at the dedication of the memorial.
The Research and teaching series (1967-1980 and undated) consists of Weiss's course notes, research papers, and newspaper and magazine articles relating to her courses in women's studies.
The Miscellaneous series (1977-1980 and undated) contains several papers written by Weiss and others which she used in her teaching, as well ast he lyrics of the theme song for the Iowa Women's Meeting which Weiss attended.
