Scope and Contents

The full name of Gego is Gertrud Goldschmidt. "This exhibition traces the complete development of her oeuvre, from early works under the distinct influence of Constructivism to the decisive moment of her rupture with predominant paradigms, and a new sculptural language embodied in metal weaves which evolved towards abiguous forms between the organic and the geometrical." However, the citation on the examples of these weaves states that they were made from paper or cards. It is noteworthy that Sara Sackner made paper and card weaves from 1978-1981 as individual collages and in an artist book entitled "Concrete" which are held by the Sackner Archive. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
