Joue [Illegible} / Anonymous., 1983
The same text was written on two clear sheets of acetate. When aligned in the frame between two sheets of glass, the registration between the two is slightly off from overlapping such that an optical image is created. The title in English is cheek. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
Journal of Evidence Weekly, Vol. 138 / Wilner, Martin., 2008
This letterpress edition of Journal of Evidence Weekly Volume 138 was published on the occasion of Martin Wilner's exhibition, "More Drawings about History and Evidence," at the Pierogi Gallery in Brooklyn, New York from January 4 through February 4, 2008. The Sackner Archive lent three of their original Wilner drawings to the exhibition. The Archive also holds a unique book of subway drawings with a different cast of characters seated on the train, Journal of Evidence Weekly Volume 122. The books are visual chronicles of Wilner's trips from his house to his office (he is a practicing phychiatrist) on the New York subway. He draws portraits of his fellow passengers adn records their conversations in cartoon bubbles as he evesdrops on them. Running across the top of the drawings and meandering through someof the drawings are the names of the subway stops where the action took place. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
Julio Organum Julii / Bussotti, Sylvano., 1968
July / Lawrence, Annette., 1994
Annette Lawrence is an African-American artist concerned with significant dates in her life. The drawing on a flattened, brown paper bag depicts spokes radiating from the center that consist of a series of two dates terminated with a large period. The dates mark the onset and termination of her menstrual periods from 1980-1994. Four thick vertical lines formed from her menstrual blood suggest an appearance of an incomplete cube, perhaps symbolizing absence of ovum fertilization. Lawrence was a participant in the Whitney Biennial 1997. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
