The worded photographs are contact prints that have been drawn upon in typical Gerlovin fashion. The red and black text and line drawings with thick pen strokes consist mostly of variations upon the accompanying photographic images. In addition, the text also includes concrete poems and manifestos. Several of the worded photographs have been released as individual prints in editions. Isidore Isou contributes an essay written in 1968 which includes an "Introduction au Lettrisme," "La Photographie Ciselante," "La Photographie Lettriste et Hypergraphique," "La Photographie Supertemporelle," and "L'Avenir de la Photographie." The photographs mainly depict images captured by the camera from life or collage and subsequently treated with paint, ink, and/or scratched additions to the negative or the photograph itself. This book is subtitled "Home Is Where the Heart Is." Each page consists of an illustration of a person and a phrase, related to the theme of family. Only parts of the human figures are shown and each of the phrases begins with a present participle. The phrase are common expressions, e.g., going for broke, reading like an open book, burning the midnight oil, and leading by the nose.
