Iowa City Women's Club

 Organization

Biography

The Iowa City Women’s Club (ICWC) affiliated with the General and Iowa Federation of Women’s Clubs since 1922. It consisted of women residing in Iowa City who wanted to do more for Iowa City through community-based work. A main goal of ICWC was growth in membership. There were special projects that members of club committees could take on such as memorial books for members that passed away and giving out vocational training and music camp scholarships. Club meetings provided women an opportunity to socialize, participate in community affairs, and share common interests such as gardening, arts, literature, and social science.
