Cards and objects of the same dimensions are stacked between two square, thick wooden plywood boards that are held together by two long screws with flanged nuts. The word "between" is printed on the cover board and blind embossed on the dividing handmade thick paper sheets. Most of the artwork relates directly to the theme of this assembling, e.g., 'zwischen' in German, 'between' in English. Cards and objects of the same dimensions are stacked into a pyramid shaped, brightly printed, colored box. The artists and poets contributed one or several pieces to this assembling. The ceramic object made by Axel Fabry is a replica of a sunny-side up egg. The booklet is made like a sandwich. This exhibition dealt with concrete poems installed in public places. There are also critical texts about concrete poetry by Gomringer and Valoch in the catalogue. Scope and Contents Dencker has compiled a tour de force of writings, references and examples of visible language from prehistory to the present. It is accompanied by extensive footnotes of documentation asnd references. Although the text is written in German, the images still guide the reader as to the cultural impact of his well-chosen examples. He has described the writings of the most important world-wide individuals in this field while featuring German speaking writers. Omissions of influential American poets/artists include d.a. levy, John Giorno, Barbara Kruger and Paul Laffoly. The index in this book lists the birth and death dates for several individuals. Several works held by the Sackner Archive are reproduced in the book. These include among others Charles Cameron's poem for rose-marie cahc (1965) depicted in Experiencias No.2 (1975); Eino Ruutsalo's story board for the film, "ABC," (1967) [different original story board for same film held by Sackner Archive]; Konrad Balder Schauffelin's...

Raoul Hausmann's "sound-reel," a sound poem held by the Sackner Archive is depicted on page 146. It depicts the hand writtem added letters, signs and numbers that are often not present in other reproductions of the poem.
