Scope and Contents
The Solon Women’s Club records date from 1951 to 1982 and measure 10 linear inches (4 boxes). The records are arranged in two series: Administrative and Scrapbooks. The administrative series contains attendance and financial records, meeting minutes, and club programs. The meeting minutes and programs record club activities, guest speakers, and meeting topics.
The scrapbook series contains four scrapbooks. The “Newspaper clippings, 1957-1970” scrapbook in box 1 has been disbound. It consists of newspaper clippings about the club and its members. A general scrapbook (brown) contains photographs and other materials documenting club activities from 1951-1973 (box 2). The “A Library for Solon, 1963-1964” Scrapbook (box 3) documents the club’s work to establish the Solon Public Library, which opened in May 1965. The “Solon Care Center Project, 1978-1979” scrapbook (box 4) contains photographs and newspaper clippings about the club’s landscaping and beautification project for the care center.
