The imagery depicts semi-abstract tortured figures perhaps relating to Phillips' college examination days at Oxford. The poem reads "an experience ago and a feeling ago - of vanity, no vain rose had more to say than the little arty graces im the halls of the foreboding." -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
