Scope and Contents

Internet: Silkscreener and publisher Kerstin Lichtblau and the interdisciplinary artist Brandstifter formed aartzine to combine their personally skills in bookart making and comunicareing with a huge network of astonoshing contemporary artists and fanzine makers around the world. For each issue they invite 12 artist friends to perform four exclusive pages in A5 format for aart zine, with drawing, collage, photography, copyart and stamp/print techniques, etc. Brandstifter + Lichtblau reproduce these artworks as double sided digital black and white prints on one A4 landscape page - each artist's work on a different coloured paper - in a limited edition to 120 and design a silkscreened cover by themselves.Instead of just following the normal process of book making and editioning a fanzine by binding the printed pages they present the ready made ingredients for their artists' books at bookfairs/exhibition as an open source. Now it's the customer's choice to decide: a) in which order b) which artists/pages they want to have compiled by B + L in their individually issue. This process is similar to an election in which the artworks are the canidates and the customers vote their own parliament for aart zine. Brandstifter + Lichtblau raise the customer from an an merly passive consumer to an active editeur who decides and gives each book a unique character. Each customer leaves the stand with a finished book. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
