Coptic and Collage: Ancient Technique, Modern Application, 1997
This book is a survey of contemporary implementations of the Coptic structure; it served as an exhibition catalogue. John Sharpe contributed an introduction and Zahra Partovi was the curator. The blue rubber binding is tied with yellow string and is based on an early stabbed sewing model used by the Copts. Twenty copies of the examples de tete were bound by Knoderer - the Sackner Archive copy is one of these copies. The illustrations by Pageris are semi-realistic, line drawings with a background of black watercolored abstract markings. The bookbinding has sample strips of tooled and painted leather laid into a bimorphic shape whose silhouette has features resembling the side of the human face.
