This work was first published by Ganglia Press in mimeographed form as the Singing Hands Series No.3 in 1966 (held by Sackner Archive). The present work was published as a component of bp Nichol's bookwork, "bp" by Coach House press in 1967. Nichol provided instructions on the back cover for burning this booklet. This is the first book published by Andrews. In it, he provides a definition of language poetry, viz., a) fragmentation and quality of words other than (and along with) their meaning, b) stress on texture, sound, rhythm, space and silence, c) less "content" (in the old sense) but hopefully the "language" becomes the content and d) the "individual" words have meanings and associations but these are not yoked together and aimed "outside the poem" at a single externally applied meaning for a poem as a whole. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

Given to the Sackners at the Yale University Portuguese Concrete Poetry Symposium (1995) organized by Keith Jackson and Johanna Drucker. In A Dream is a documentary feature film that chronicles his work and his tumultuous relationship with his wife, Julia. It follows the Zagars as their marriage implodes and a harrowing new chapter in their life unfolds.
