Scope and Contents

Internet: Two cities and four institutional venues have more than one thousand works from various foundations and collections, with a total of one hundred and fifty Italian and foreign artists selected: these features make Visual Poetry the most important initiative dedicated to Visual Poetry, on the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Group 70 Florence, among the first and most effective propellers of this kind of art, who in 1964 coined the term, in fact, "Visual Poetry" in the climate of the turbulent bubbly and neo-avant-garde European Union. The Group was formed in '63 by Lamberto Pignotti and Eugenio Miccini, brought forward his artistic research in an interdisciplinary way, probing the possible relations between culture, language spoken, advertising and mass communication, between word and image, writing and painting, creating new meanings and complex systems, according to an idea of "‹"‹total art that characterized the research of various movements of the sixties and seventies. The exhibition includes, alongside artists of Visual Poetry, even the presence of representatives of similar movements such as Fluxus, Mail Art and Narrative Art, trespassing, as the curator Joshua Allegrini "in interlacciamenti verbovisivi movements with precursors such as Futurism, Dadaism and the Lettrism, and contemporary or later, such as Conceptual Art, Arte Povera, Pop Art, New Realism and the New Media. " Several arts groups represented, like the aforementioned Group 70 (Miccini, Pignotti, Marcucci), the Group Genovese (Oberto, Tola, headwork), the Group of 63 Balestrini, there are also many visual poets present, by Bory De Vree, by Kolar to Novak, involving internationally renowned contemporary artists such as Maurizio Cattelan, Jannis Kounellis, Mimmo Rotella, Ben Vautier, Dennis Oppenheim, Tony Oursler and Joseph Beuys. The exhibition bunting makes the right tribute to Visual Poetry, Concrete Poetry movement which, together with the Scripture and Visual / New Writing, was one of the greatest contributions to the Visual Poetry, one of the most important artistic trends of the art of the late twentieth century and the multiple modes of expression, as they seem to testify to the same works, from paintings to collages, installations to artists' books, to the ceramics. The presence of the works exhibited in Pavia was enriched by some of the performances and sound verb-verb-paintings which were held Saturday, February 15th at Spazio Broletto in Victory Square. This catalogue includes sections of calligraphy on ceramics (Colleziione Scatizzi) and artist books in unique and limited editions (Collezione Beradelli). -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
